IMAN JODEH

Senate District 29

Iman Jodeh proudly serves as the State Senator for Senate District 29 in Aurora, Colorado — a community she has called home her entire life. A first-generation American, Iman is the first Muslim, first Arab woman, and first Palestinian ever elected to the Colorado State Legislature.

In her role, she serves on the Senate Health & Human Services Committee and the Business, Labor, and Technology Committee. She has championed and passed transformative legislation, including landmark medical debt forgiveness, extending the eviction notice period from 48 hours to 10 days, expanding access to affordable medications, and securing protections for people, like herself, living with epilepsy.

Iman was the prime sponsor of the Colorado Option—the largest health insurance reform in state history—and legislation that created the Office of New Americans, ensuring that Colorado welcomes and supports immigrant communities. She also led the passage of Colorado’s Land Use bill, a groundbreaking step toward sustainable development across the state. Beyond the Capitol, she co-chaired the Global Talent Task Force and serves as a Commissioner on the Colorado Health Equity Commission.

Outside the legislature, Iman is the first woman to serve as spokesperson for the Colorado Muslim Society, the largest and oldest mosque in the Rocky Mountain region. She is the founder of Meet the Middle East, an educational nonprofit dedicated to building bridges between the U.S. and the Middle East, and she spent years lecturing on the Middle East and Islam at the University of Denver’s Enrichment Program.

A proud board member of the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado and Wyoming, Iman is fluent in Arabic and maintains a second home in Ramallah, Palestine. In her free time, she enjoys fly fishing in Colorado’s scenic rivers and spending time with her large, close-knit family.
